Things to consider for your visit

-
The Capital Prize Gold Mine is a well lit and safe environment. The mine is inspected every day by staff and monitored by the Colorado Division of Reclamation Mining and Safety.
-
The average temperature inside the mine is 49° Fahrenheit so a light jacket and closed toe shoes are recommended.
-
The adit (tunnel) is accessible over 1,000 feet into the mountainside for tours. The mine adit extends to 4,700 feet and work is being done to open additional tour space.
-
The ground is level and the ceiling is generally above 6 feet so little stooping is required.
-
Tours are approximately 60 minutes - please allow extra time to enjoy rock breaking, the historic sites or a picnic lunch outside the mine.
-
Wheelchairs and strollers can have a difficult time in the mine due to the ore cart rail tracks and are are not suitable for the mine environment.
