Things to consider for your visit

  • The Capital Prize Gold Mine is a well lit and safe environment. The mine is inspected every day by staff and monitored by the Colorado Division of Reclamation Mining and Safety.

  • The average temperature inside the mine is 49° Fahrenheit so a light jacket and closed toe shoes are recommended.

  • The adit (tunnel) is driven over 1,000 feet into the mountainside for tours. The mine adit extends to 4,700 feet and work is being done to open additional tour space.

  • The ground is level and the ceiling is generally above 6 feet so little stooping is required.

  • Tours are approximately 60 minutes - please allow extra time to enjoy rock breaking, the historic sites  or a picnic lunch outside the mine.

  • Wheelchairs and strollers can have a difficult time in the mine due to the ore cart rail tracks and are are not allowed.

"The newest attraction in Clear Creek County and the longest and most extensive gold mine in Colorado. This mine is different than all the others and is a must see. Only 35min. from Denver!
